Chrono Cross : Archives : 1-25

[Arni Village, Home World]

Serge sits up in his bed and shakes himself awake. "What a weird dream..." He stands up and stretches, yawning. He then walks downstairs and talks to his mom only to find that Leena was looking for him. He decides to look around town before heading to meet her.

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

Harle looks around, her limber body making graceful turns into small places. "Monsiuer Lynx? Monsiuer?" She plops down to think. "Where could ze cat be?"

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

Norris loaded his gun, resting it in it's holster as he entered the Porre Military Command Center. Approaching the senior officer he saluted, "Major Norris, reporting for duty as you requested, sir."

The elderly general shook his head slowly, "Not for ME, Major, not this time...it seems the special division has found interest in your abilities." Turning his head slightly as General Albreight now looked towards a dark figure, pointed ears and redened fur could be made out beneath the Porre High Command Uniform.

Norris stammered as he realised he had come under the scrutiny of one of those among Porre's top ranks,"S-Sir Lynx...!?"

[Guldove, Home World]

Doc looked down to his hands once more, the half emptied glass next to him, "I couldn't even save ONE life..." His shoulders slumped, his eyes no longer roaming the pub for company, "Why couldn't I have saved her?" He asked himself as he took another drink, his eyes closing as her face shimmered through his mind, slightly out of focus, "Am I truely so useless...?"

[Guldove, Home World]

Korcha tilts his head to look at Doc, sipping his glass of apple cider. Korcha shakes his head a bit at the Doc and says, "You're not THAT Useless, Doc! Don'tCHA remember all those times you've helped me when I was sick?"

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

"So, when are we going down to Cape Howl?" Karsh asked Miss Riddel, looking up from the book he was reading. "All I know is I'm supposed to capture a boy there... Has your dad told you any more information?"

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

Luccia's lab was unusually quiet as the purple (blue) haired female stood over her latest experiment. Her eyes squinted as she daintily picked up a testube, swirling a glowing-green material around in the glass container. "Vhat vill come of dis, I wonder?" She holds the liquid up to the light, tongue poking out from between her straight-white teeth as she inspects it. "I guess ve vill just have to try and see, eh?"

She looks dubiously at yet another glass container below her, this one holding a red powder. "Vone, two three." At three Luccia, the mad scientist, empties the first glass (containing the liquid) into the red powder. One second passes, then two. . . Then three and she gives a bit of a worried frown. Just at that moment, as the expression is slowly scrawling across her features, a gentle hissing begins in the newly formed substance.

Her eyes widen and a caged animal behind her lets out a low howl. The mixture bubbles, fizzes. . . Then promptly explodes, reddish colored goop covering Luccia and the area around her. She stands there a moment, looking stunned, then lets out a disappointed, "Vell, it could have been much, much worse. . ."

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

Riddel shook her head, her brow furrowed. "I'm very sorry, Karsh. I've certainly heard nothing of it. Daddy's been acting differently ever since that guest arrived from Porre."

The general's daughter sat down tiredly in her chair, "That... Lynx, he gives me a strange feeling." she said distantly before looking up at Karsh, "Well, good luck with your mission. Tomorrow I'll be visiting the grave with Glenn. Hopefully we can find some bellflowers by then." she smiled. "I hope you can come, but I doubt it with your mission..." she bit her lip and stood, heading for her door.

"Don't forget to feed him," she motioned toward the cage on her table, talking to the chamber maid. She turned back to Karsh, "Let's go."

[Guldove, Home World]

Doc raised an eyebrow, looking up from his drink, "Did I? Or was it just a lucky break...?" He slowly shook his head, "There's so much I still don't know about medicine." He paused as he slouched, drinking a bit more, looking over towards Orlha, who was busy washing glasses, "I'm really a pretty mediocre physician all-in-all..." he gave a long sigh, looking back to Korcha, "But thanks for trying to cheer me up, Korcha." After speaking he returned to his sullen silence.

[Guldove, Home World]

"I don't think so." Orhla replied, "No sense in being depressed if you've done your best, Doc." she commented sincerely, "You are facing the same thing every doctor faces, every good doctor that is." She walks over to the bar and places a mug under the bar, then stands again, "The difference between a good doctor, and a mediocre doctor, is that a good doctor cares about his patients."

She shrugged and shook her head, "You haven't failed any more than every other healer in the world. I'd trust you with my life and, if you couldn't save me, I'm certain there's no one else who could." She went back to shelfing her glass mugs.

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

Standing in the doorway to the lab, the mammoth Zoah shakes off the weird red gloop. He, presumably, blinks a few times before he begins to speak. "HELLO, LUCCIA," he says, his deep voice shaking the room, annoying the caged animals. "WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON TODAY?" There he stands, left hand behind his back, right hand still on the doorknob. "I BROUGHT YOU YOUR DINNER, SEEING AS YOU WERE TOO BUSY TO COME EAT ON THE BALCONY." Speaking of course, of where the Devas, Riddel, Viper, and of course Luccia usually have meals, he holds out the tray to her, now certain that no more red gloop will be flying around. A bellflower sits next to the plate of steak and mashed potatoes, the meal usually reserved for the Devas, Riddel, and General Viper.

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

"I apologize," Karsh says to Miss Riddel, "But it is a long walk to Cape Howl. I will not be able to go to Dario's grave with you tomorrow... However," he continues, "I promise to return to Viper Manor with a fresh supply of Bell Flowers, fresh from Fossil Valley. And unlike the shop," he smirks, "I'm not going to charge fifty gold a flower."

He shakes his head a bit, returning to the original subject at hand. "I don't trust the new guest, especially since he refuses to show his face. Even Zoah and Marcy have yet to see him. Have you seen him? For all I know, this guy could be a feline demi-human."

[Guldove, Home World]

"Uhh... yeah!" Korcha responded. "Orlha's right! You did your best. Have no regrets!" He smirks a bit, having that line stolen from a video game played by his mun, but says nothing of the sort, for it would compromise the OOC/IC security. "Besides, you're the only doctor this town has! And besides, ain't there some religious thing that says... umm... don'tCHA have to help everyone you can?"

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

Luccia cringed a bit at the booming voice of the large Deva, waiting a moment to turn and face him. As she turns she wipes a hand across her face, throwing the red goo to the ground. "I vas looking into a new substance that vill hopefully replace glue at some point. Sticky and pliable until hardened. . ." She pauses at the Deva's announcement of dinner and inclines her head. "Vhy, Zoah, how very thoughtful of you!"

Luccia fights to shake off a bit more of the gloop as she steps towards towering male. Oddly enough, she blushes at the bellflower and holds both hands out towards the tray. "Vill you stay a bit?"

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

"I CAN STAY AS LONG AS YOU LIKE," his voice echoes in his helmet. "I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER ASSIGNMENT UNTIL I GUARD THE FOREST TOMORROW MORNING." Handing the tray to Luccia, he glances around the room, looking for somewhere to sit down in the lab. As his vision changes, he notices the caged Pip, a critter that he had captured in the shadow forest. "HAVE YOU FIGURED OUT WHAT PIP DOES YET?" He casually takes off the buckler that he wears, covered in goop, and places it down on the table.

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

Luccia nodded, placing the tray and food down on an untouched counter. She looks at the food a moment then picks up the flower, filling a beaker with water and placing the flower in that, and then in a holder. She then begins to wash her hands and face of the red substance, getting as clean as possible while still in the lab. . . And without taking any clothes off. "Actually. . . I'm still not certain. He does not respond vell to any of de tests I've put him through. . ." She shrugs her shoulders, sitting lightly down on a stool in front of the food but not touching it.

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

"You know..." Riddel said with her brow furrowed, "I think I caught a glance of him." she shrugged, "He's very dark, and I think he does have the face of a cat."

She grinned as a dragoon ran up the stairs to greet Karsh and herself, "Good evening, Miss Riddel, Karsh, sir." he nodded as he ran past them, then spun around to face them, "It's time to eat!" he nodded with a grin before trotting off in another direction.

[Arni Village, Home World]

Serge looks all around for Leena but to no avail. None have seen her. "Ah well...I'll find that red head soon enough. I think maybe I should head down to Opassa Beach." Serge nods and decides to head there.

[Opassa Beach, Home World]

Serge goes through Lizard Rock and then arrives at the beach. He stands there for a moment, contemplating life itself. He is then shaken from his thoughts as a large wave heads towards him. Serge stands there, just looking at the large wave. He says nothing as a blue light engulfs him. It all goes dark for an instant. He then falls to the sand. Sometime later...

[Opassa Beach, Alternate World]

Serge wakes up to an old man's voice and the sound of a komodo pup. He sits up, then shakes his head as the man wobbles off. Serge stands up, brushes himself off, then heads to Arni Village.

[Arni Village, Alternate World]

In the village...
Serge looks around, not quite sure what to make of it. Everything was different and he didn't understand. He decided to try the dock once again. There was Leena. (Leena then argues that Serge is dead, thus HE can not possibly be Serge. She tells him that if he wants proof he should go to Cape Howl and see the grave site for himself.) Serge then nodded solemnly and decided to go to Cape Howl to visit his grave.

[Cape Howl, Alternate World]

Serge walks there and finds his tombstone. He reads the inscription and feels a sudden emptiness inside.

[Viper Manor, Alternate World]

Harle blinks. "MONSIEUR LYNX? WHERE ARE YOU?!" She demands angrily.

[S.S. Zelbess, Home World]

Janice stretches and yawns as she observes a few of her smaller creatures doing battle down in the Grand Slam arena. "Bo-ring." she says with a tired sigh. "It's just not the same without some poor saps here to beat shamelessly." moans the annoyed bunny girl.

She looks around curiously. "The usual crowd isn't even gathered today! I feel like I'm all alone down here." ::voice echoes:: "Grrr...I wonder where the crew is." she mumbles.

[The Dimensional Vertex]

The old goblin woman sat on a branch, sighing deeply as she kicked her big feet gently. She took a small sip of the tea in the little white cup as she let out a drawn-out sigh. "...'Miss the home world." she muttered as she took another sip of the tea. "Mebbe..."

She looked around, a grin climbing up onto her face, "...'Mebbe ah'll see wots in the tower today..." she cackled as she downed the rest of the tea and leapt off the branch, falling roughly three stories and landing on her feet before walking toward her house to return the cup. "Shure. 'nottin' better ta do. Ah'll go see wots 'a lurkin'."
