I walked to school like any other day. My name is Jessica and I live in New York. I'm 14 years old and a freshman in high school. Unfortunately today I was late for school. I'm usually on time, but today I just slept late.
I looked at my greenish watch. "Damn. I'm seriously late. I'll miss my test!" I shrieked. I have a math test first period. I started to run. As I ran, I felt like I stepped on something squishy. I stepped back to see that I stepped on a little orange cat. It had a Band-Aid on its forehead. "I'm sorry kitty, You're so cute," I said as I picked the cat up and took the Band-Aid off.
The cat looked at me. It lifted its little paw and scratched me in the face. I screamed in pain and threw the cat on the ground. I touched my face gently to see if the blood was gushing. Luckily it stopped bleeding. I finally arrived at school, late.
"Jessica, what happened to your face?" my friend asked at lunch.
"Some stupid cat scratched me on my way to school." I said as I bit into my pizza.
"Did it hurt?" my other friend asked.
"Of course! I didn't bleed too much." I said.
"Was it cute?"
"It wasn't cute when it scratched me. It hurt like a bitch!" The girls laughed at my painful experience.
After school I decided to go to the comic book store. I needed to buy the final book in my art book collection. I knew I didn't have enough money, but I hoped that Andrew would give me a discount. Andrew is the boy who works in the comic store. He's a senior in the same school as me. I liked him since I first came to the store last year.
I looked into the store window to see that he wasn't there. I frowned deeply. My day is just horrible. I felt something against my ankle. I looked down to see that cat from this morning. "You again. You ruined my face and my friends made fun of me because of that. Now shoo!" I said. The cat looked at me, the same look as earlier. It better not scratch me.
Lucky for me, it went away. Since Andrew wasn't in today, I decided to wait for the bus. I waited for at least ten minutes and got on. I didn't have much homework today. Only math and history like always. It really doesn't matter. The work is pretty easy.
When I got home I decided to lie down for a while. It was kinda hot today so I left the window open. I closed my dark brown eyes and rested. I must have slept for an hour or so. It started to get breezy so I got up and went to close the window. As I reached for the window, I saw that cat again. "Did you follow me or something?" I asked it, knowing it didn't understand me.
"Yes I did. I want to speak to you Jessica." It said, in a deep manly voice.
My eyes widened. "I am going insane! A cat is talking to me! I must wake up now!" I said as I pinched my cheek. I was awake. I'm crazy!"
"You are not insane. I really am talking to you. I'm here to tell you your destiny. My name is Apollo and I'm here to tell you that you are the soldier of the stars, Sailor Star." he said.
"A warrior, me? No way!" I said as I sat on my bed.
"Don't you listen? I told you this is your destiny. You are the sailor senshi of the stars. Your job is to protect the stars in this galaxy and Princess Serenity of the Silver Millennium." Apollo explained.
"Still don't believe me? I will give you this." The cat did a back flip and landed perfectly on my bed next to me. Besides the cat was a beautiful pink pen with a star on top. It had many crystals on the base of the pen.
"I love this! I'll use it at school." I said as I picked it up.
"Please listen to me. That is not a writing pen. It's a transformation pen. Now hold it up and shout STAR POWER MAKE UP." Apollo said.
"Alright. STAR POWER MAKE UP!" I shouted. After I shouted the phrase, a star force field surrounded me. Silver and gold ribbons surrounded my naked body. My sailor suit was formed and I was this Sailor Star.
"Oh my god! I love this outfit!" I squealed in delight.
"Being Sailor Star isn't about looking good. You must master your abilities as a Sailor Soldier." Apollo said.
"Fine as long as I look good!" I said, still checking myself out.
"You are impossible!" Apollo barked.
"Anyway Apollo who am I fighting exactly?" I asked.
"The evil force. They're called the Dark Kingdom lead by Queen Beryl." Apollo said.
"Dark Kingdom. They sound scary." I said as I stepped back.
"They might be but don't be afraid. You must be strong and defeat them." Apollo said as he scratched himself.
"Alright, I'll be strong. I wanna fight the enemy now!" I declared.
"Good. But I have no idea where the enemy is at the moment." Apollo said.
"Oh great." I said, a huge sweat drop formed on my head. "Why didn't you say that before you big fuzz ball!" I barked. Apollo jumped on my shoulder and scratched my face. I winced in pain.
"Wait. I sense something." Apollo said.
"What? What is it? Where is it from?" I asked, a bit confused.
"It seems to have come from the west." he said.
"That's where the playground is." I said.
"We must hurry. We mustn't let the enemy win." Apollo said. I nodded and we ran to the park.
