Chrono Cross : Archives
~"Why do you still struggle?"~ the omnipresent voice chymed through the seemingly meditating cat-man's mind. A light snarl taking his
features as the images of the past that had brought him here phased through his mind, like a flood, overlapped and distorted with the
images his master and only goddess willed him to see. (Leave me be, Fate...I'll do your bidding. You'll have what you want.) with that he
stood, looking to the venerable General Viper he had now aligned himself with as deemed by Fate, to trap the young man...Serge, the
Chrono Trigger. Deep within the shadowy void of Lynx's soul part of him still wrenched, at having to see his son die a second time.
Recovering his sense of calm as Fate's will once more blanketed over him, "Shall we...greet our guests, General?" Lynx asked cordially, as the gears began to turn, opening once more the back-entrance to the General's personal office. Stepping out calmly to see the small crowd, his eyes lulled and glossed confident in their own success, once more he stood, the puppet and only avatar of the cruel dark goddess, Fate. "So...It appears, we have no need to seek you out after all." his gaze traveled the room, sharing a brief glare with Norris and then another with the more grown up Kid...before his gaze rested on Serge, his target...his prey.
Serge picked up his swallow and tightened his fingers around it. He narrowed his blue eyes at Lynx, knowing that he was an enemy, and
he had to be defeated at all costs. Lest he be stuck in that chair again...for another month. Serge nearly weeped at the thought, but
kept his focus on Lynx. Serge dashed in, sliding on one foot, and slashed up at Lynx's chest, going for a critical strike. He then
leapt backward, seeing if his hit would work.
Rolling reflexively with the hits as he still felt the sting of Serge's blade against his furred skin, secretly taking some pride in
how the young boy had grown...though it quickly faded, that life was dead to him, now and forever, he was simply an avatar of FATE. His
soul mission to destroy the Chrono Trigger...FATE's enemy, Serge. A grimmaced smile took the cat-demon's face as his eyes stayed focused upon his prey, his yellow-ish golden eyes narrowing as if posessed, awaiting the next barrage before making his strike.
Kid's eyebrows furrowed, thinking it odd for the furry bastard to be smiling while in such a position. Shaking her head she cleared out
all of the thoughts running through her mind and focused entirely on those of sweet revenge. She pulled out her dagger with an eager
grin, "This is fer...her."
She suddenly darted at Lynx and stopped just inches in front of him before crouching down, turning the dagger blade out towards him with an angry glare, and nimbly leaping the full length of his body with one solid slashing motion. An action sure to cause some loss of blood if not avoided. She sliced twice more at his chest area before leaping back into position next to Serge to assess the damage done.
Lynx gracefully arched away from the upward slash, his dark clothing still taking the abuse before he leaned foreward for a parry, his
chest meeting her dagger twice, giving a groan as the pain hit him...perhapse it has been too long since his hands were last soiled.
Norris quickly drew his pistol, holding it firmly in his hand as he took fast aim, "This is for Aradia...Lynx, you traitor..." with that
said he took aim for Lynx's shoulders...seeking to disarm the beastman. He knew well of Lynx's physical strength. A pair of
thunderous shots fired from the gun as the bullets streamed foreward, taking a final shot at his chest Norris was certain Lynx could not
dodge them all.
Lynx turned on heel, taking the bullet aiming for his chest in the bicep instead. His teeth clenched as the red hot metal of the bullet
seared into his arm. The bullet meant for his left shoulder clipping through his cape instead.
Leena finally got up the nerve to react. Realizing that her training with the gun was poor at best, she couldn't depend on it. While the panther-man was busy with Serge, the trashy girl in red, and Norris, Leena had the time to aim the gun properly. She leveled the barrel and fired, shooting twice. She would've shot more times, but the recoil of the gun was more then she expected and it flew out of her hand. She put her hand to her dress and took the knife that she kept there if necessary, leaving the gun on the floor, hoping she did the right thing.
Lynx growled intimidatingly towards Leena as he heard her gun fire off, the first bullet taking off his hat, the second clipping his
left ear, his eyes not even seeming to wince at the sharp pain of the new piercing.
Norris made a mental note to acquire a Derringer for Leena, She'd managed to use his spare Ferrous Gun...though not very easily.
Watching how she had held the gun he could tell that accuracy over power would be her best bet in fire arms. Though her attempt
impressed him, having not yet given her any more training than ("This end shoots when you squeeze here...").
Lynx stood strong, leveling his scythe as he leapt at Serge attempting to Deliver a broad, heavy sming to his midsection(3),
followed by a pair of medium slashes(2,2). Leaping back away once his barrage had been dealt, charging himself for a major attack upon the group.
Serge took the full brunt of the midsection swings. He staggered back, trying to regain the wind that Lynx had knocked out of him.
Serge then stood up to his full height and resumed his position, then dashed in towards Lynx and jabbed at him twice (1,1) then leapt back. He then prepared a dash and slash to finish off the attack, distorting the air around him as he slashed at Lynx with the mighty
attack, using his swallow as a shield.
Lynx groaned as the air was knocked from him, taken by surprise Serge's special technique took full effect. Small droplettes of red
escaping his mouth with the air as he was effectively knocked to the ground. Liftkicking his legs up as he returned to his feet, his free
hand wiping a small amount of the blood from his lip as he watched his foes intently, awaiting the next attack, building up for his
devastating return. Once they had made their moves he would be ready.
Kid, rather annoyed that the cat man had managed to dodge the larger of her attacks, decided to put her
force into an elemental this time. She swiped in the direction of his midsection once quickly with her
dagger before concentrating on calling forth a Lv.2 MagmaBomb. A warm red aura began to fill her immediate
area as one fireball after another materialized and headed quickly towards their target, Lynx.
Lynx stood strong taking the brunt of the fireballs, not falling until the last, rolling with the fall as he extinguished his now
cinged clothing (-43HP, Burn avoided) his eyes narrowing at Kid tauntingly as an understated grin took hold on his lips. He would
attempt to play upon the girl's temper, to make her less effective as a combatant. Standing guard as he awaited the next attack, his focus
now on Norris.
Norris leveled his gun, taking his full three shots at the devilcat before him, "I won't let you leave THIS time, traitor." he stated
taking shot at Lynx's shoulder, chest and head. (1,2,3...) holding his pistol firm in both hands as he gathered the energy of his own
spirit into his final shot, a radiant orb of light gathering at the barrel of the gun, taking aim, the beam of radiant energy shot
quickly towards its target. (Lv3 Technique, 54 damage)
Lynx rolled against the shoulder shot, taking the chest shot to avoid the sniper attempt. A loud groan escaping his lips as the wind
was once more knocked from him by the brunt force of Norris' technique.
Leena was ready this time. Moving in quickly she slashed at him with the knife. One small, relatively weak swing (1), then she spun on her feet and leapt upward to hit him in the face (3). She then jumped backward. What was she doing. Leaning her hands forward, she began to chant. A white orb started to form in front of her. As she chanted, it got bigger and bigger, until finally, she let loose with it. A
PhotonBeam spell; the last memento of Miguel, her father.
Lynx grumbled silent growl-like groans to himself as he slouched from battle fatigue, recognizing the momento and favorite element of
the man he once saw as a friend, Miguel. But Fate, his goddess, his puppet master, was so cruel as to have him take Miguel's life as
well...all that remained of the man Lynx once was was now a twisted, and hardened shell, filled with malice. Having taken the brunt of the
damage from the light cut and the photon beam Lynx rushed in, striking a hard blow at Kid(3), followed by an equally hard side
slash at Serge(2) leaving him with just enough energy to leap back, taking a readied stance he released his Hell Cats (lvl 3 tech) to
slash viciously at the party.
